Kindergarten and Owl’s Nest Teacher

Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in New Jersey. I grew up in a Christian home and become a believer at a young age. I have always enjoyed working with kids and love watching them learn and grow. When I’m not at school, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places. I also like going to the beach and spending time with my friends and family. After college, I spent 3 years in Beijing, China teaching English to middle and high school students. I love using my gift of teaching to serve students wherever I am.

Tell us the story of how God brought you to work at EC.
I graduated from Cedarville University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. After graduation, I taught English for three years in Beijing, China. I loved living and teaching overseas. Over the three years of teaching and serving, I was able to spread God’s love and develop deeper relationships with my students. After returning, I began teaching in the public schools. I taught First Grade, Basic Skills, and Kindergarten. I really enjoyed teaching at each school, but the positions were only temporary. I knew I wanted to teach in a Christian school where the faculty and staff shared the same beliefs and values. Since I am a graduate of ECHS, I immediately thought about EC and how wonderful it would be to return as a teacher. I applied for a position at ECMS but the position had already been filled. A couple days later, I received news of openings at the Elementary school. Through God’s provision, I received a position in the Owl’s Nest and Half-day Kindergarten. I am excited to be a part of the EC community this school year!

What sets EC apart – Why Eastern Christian?
As a ECHS alumni, I know that the faculty and staff are dedicated to student learning and genuinely care about each and every student. I had a very positive experience as a student and that continues to be true returning as a teacher. Everyone at the school is very welcoming and willing to help in any way. EC is a placed where students can be challenged to achieve academically and to grow in their faith. I am very excited to see how God will continue to work this school year!
