The final week of the ECMS girl’s basketball season was a roller coaster of emotions. The Eagles faced an improved HCA squad in front of a rowdy Defenders crowd. After a slow start, the girls really started to feel the pressure when Madison Wynbeek had to leave the game due to a season-ending ankle sprain. However, the girls rallied around Madison and took command of the game for a 38-16 win. The very next day, the Eagles were set to face (arguably) the best team they’ve seen all year: Glen Rock. Without their captain and leading scorer, the Eagles knew this one wouldn’t be easy. 8th graders Anna Kinz and Christina Tartini combined for over half the team’s points while Sydney Moore and Naomi Engelhardt took care of the rest. The Eagles battled and hung close to the perilous Panthers of Glen Rock, but were unable to match their size and lost 29-40.
All in all, the Eagles had a very successful season with a final record of 10-4 (Three of the four losses were by 4 points or less…so close!) Great season girls, already looking forward to next season!
